Abstract

This study examined benchmarking and organizational performance in Berger Paints, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. To achieve the aim of this study, problems were identified. The purpose of the study was to determine: the extent to which process benchmarking affects profitability: Strategic benchmarking affect productivity. The extent to which performance benchmarking affect market share. Questions and hypotheses were formulated from the purpose of the study. Related literatures in the subject were reviewed. Research design used was descriptive survey design, and the Taro Yamen formula was adopted to determine the sample size of 158 from the population. The questionnaires were used for this study as the research instrument. The simple percentage method and bar chart were used to interpret research questions and the chi-square () statistical tool for testing hypotheses. This study concluded by interpreting the findings of the hypotheses tested to proof the relationship between the independent and dependent variables from which recommendations were drawn as possible solution on how benchmarking should be adequately implemented to enhance organizational growth and organizational competitive advantages edge over other competitors. Besides , it was recommended amongst others that management should be able to identify potentials and competencies before engaging employees in duties related to benchmarking .
