UTILIZATION OF THE AVAILABLE ICT FACILITIES BY USERS IN THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES IN THE NORTH-EASTERN STATES OF NIGERIA: IMPLICATIONS FOR EFFECTIVE INFORMATION DISSEMINATION
Abstract
In recent times, there has been a modification in the role of the university library via the integration and use of ICTs in the promotion of research, learning and teaching opportunities on campuses across the country. This study investigates the Utilization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) by students in the Federal University Libraries in the North-Eastern State of Nigeria. The study also determines the level of utilization of ICT facilities. Research Question were administered in line with the objectives to the target population of 350 respondents which were adopted for the purpose of this study. Thus, random sampling was used to obtain the required responses. Survey research design was used in the study, frequencies and percentages were used in the analysis. The findings shows that libraries under study were equipped with ICT facilities and services offered by these librarians. The following recommendations among others were made; that there should be more ICT facilities and constant maintenance in these libraries to ensure effective utilization of ICT facilities.
