Abstract

Multinational corporations can spur economic activities in developing countries and provide an opportunity to improve the qualities of life and economic growth (Litvin, 2002), thus, the overall performance of this sector is of paramount importance. Furthermore, today’s economy is characterized by a rapid rate of change, globalization and knowledge-based products that affects all organizations as well as multinational firms. Therefore, the survival and performance of these multinational firms is dependent upon their ability and speed in developing knowledge-based competences that can meet up with the changes in the business environment. In this present information and knowledge era, knowledge has become a key resource that enhances organizational performance. Also, according to Uriarte (2008), knowledge is increasingly being recognized as the new strategic imperative asset of organizations. Knowledge acquisition tools refer to those adopted platforms, kits, devices and arrangements used in acquiring knowledge in an organization. Here, the process of extracting, structuring, and organizing domain knowledge from domain experts into a program is being conveyed through a device, kit or
arrangement. On the other way, preservation tools are platforms, kits, devices and arrangements used in conserving, protecting, maintaining and safeguarding knowledge used in an organization.
