SEXUAL ORIENTATION DIVERSITY AND WORKPLACE INCLUSIVITY IN NIGERIA: BARRIERS AND OPPORTUNITIES

Abstract

This paper examines sexual orientation diversity and workplace inclusivity in Nigeria with key focus on the barriers to inclusivity and opportunities that abound when inclusivity is embraced. The paper adopted a literature review approach to examine and summarizes existing research studies drawing conclusions from prior findings. Findings from reviewed work showed that there exists a strong relationship between inclusivity and organizational performance and there also exist discrimination, stigmatization and harassment for LGBTQA+ individuals in Nigeria’s workplace. Finally, opportunities that abound with inclusivity of diverse sexual orientation in Nigeria’s workplace were reviewed accordingly and recommendations was made.
