Abstract


The study examines the effect of corporate governance on performance of Taraba palm oil mill,
Kurmi in Taraba State, specifically; it seeks to uncover factors accounting for the level of
performance using four corporate governance scales such as accountability, transparency,
responsibility, and risk management. The study is a survey research. The population of the study
was 84 who structured questionnaire was administered to but only 72 were retrieved. Regression
analysis was used as tool for data analysis through the use of SPSS version 27. The result of the
study shows that transparency had significant effect on performance of Taraba palm oil mill, while
accountability, responsibility and risk management had no significant effect on performance of
Taraba palm oil mill. It was recommended that Taraba palm oil mill management should maintain
the standard of corporate governance on transparency and should improve on accountability, responsibility and risk management.
